Claire and Will’s Telluride Colorado Elopement
Claire and Will rented an RV and drove across the country before eloping in secret at an alpine lake outside of Telluride, Colorado. We woke up early in the morning so we could hike up in the dark and enjoy sunrise at one of the most beautiful lakes I’ve seen in Colorado. Their dog, Luke, was dressed for the occasion in a little doggie tuxedo. We popped champagne, cut cake, and Luke signed their marriage license as their witness. It was one of my favorite elopements of the year, and I’m so happy I got to spend this day
Now for some Q&A from Claire and Will:
In the summer of 2014, Claire was hired as an intern at the company in Savannah, GA where Will was working. It was love at first sight, even if neither would admit it. It wasn’t until Will took a 16 hour round trip drive (with a very supportive wingman) and paid an outrageous amount of money to see a football team that he didn’t care about, that Claire realized he was into her (and not Claire’s friend with whom Claire foolishly tried to set Will up with). They began a long distance relationship a few months after. After Claire’s graduation and Will’s stint working abroad, they reunited back where it all started, bought a home, and got a fur baby to keep them company. Three years after, they decided to make things official.
What is your proposal story?
There wasn’t a traditional proposal. More of a joint decision to get official. We had already decided when we bought our house that that act was a commitment to each other (and a better use of money than an expensive wedding).
What are your favorite things to do together?
Hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants, spoiling our fur child Luke
Why did you decide to elope?
Claire did not want to deal with the stress, hassle, and decision making of a traditional wedding, and Will was perfectly fine not spending the money on a big wedding.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding/elopement day?
The experience of waking up at dark, hiking in the night, seeing the stars, and then experiencing such a meaningful moment just the 2 of us.
What advice do you have for other couples that are thinking about eloping?
DO IT!
