Colorado is one of the coolest states to elope. Not only are there gorgeous landscapes, but there’s epic mountain towns to visit, tons of activities, and your dog can be your witness! Here are my top five reasons why you should elope in Colorado.
Reason #1 The mountains are gorgeous
Everyone comes to Colorado for the mountains! Rocky Mountain National Park is second only to Las Vegas as one of the most popular places to elope in the country! But beyond RMNP, there are tons of mountain ranges, hikes, waterfalls, rivers, and alpine lakes to explore. The sky is the limit when it comes to choosing the perfect spot to elope with the most amazing scenery you can imagine. Some folks want dog friendly places with meadows and wildflowers. Others want to be able to take their Jeep off roading to an alpine lake. If you can dream it, we can do it in Colorado.
Reason #2 You can self-solemnize
Colorado is one of the few states where you do not have to have an officiant at your wedding ceremony. You also do not have to have witnesses sign your marriage license. That means you and your significant other can run into the mountains, say your vows to each other, exchange rings, sign the license, and be married. It’s super cool! You can see information about Colorado marriage licenses here.
Reason #3 There are tons of cool mountain towns to visit
I’ve been exploring Colorado for years, and I am still discovering cool mountain towns all of the time! If you are traveling to Colorado to get married, please consider staying in and exploring one of these awesome towns.
- Denver – for an urban vibe
- Vail – for a fancy vibe
- Salida – for an eclectic vibe
- Breckenridge – for a classic mountain town vibe
- Ouray – for a Switzerland vibe
- Telluride – for an incredibly gorgeous vibe
- Silverton – for an old timey mining town vibe
- Durango – for a college town vibe
- Buena Vista – for an outdoorsy vibe
- Fort Collins – for a brewery and craft beer vibe
Reason #4 There are so many things to do!
Of course you can go hiking and off-roading in Colorado. But did you know you can also go brewery hopping, horse back riding, and sky diving? Or what about white water rafting, zip lining, and goat yoga? You can soak in hot springs and have a massage. You can eat at fancy restaurants or check out some dive bars. Colorado has so much to offer!! Check out my blog post 100 Things to Do on Your Elopement Day for more ideas!
Reason #5 The wedding vendors in Colorado are amazing
Colorado has amazing florists, personal chefs, caterers, cakes, donuts, dress shops, hair and makeup artists, rental companies, DJs, officiants, videographers, and PHOTOGRAPHERS, of course. Whatever you are dreaming up for your elopement, Colorado wedding vendors can deliver. I can help point you in the right direction when it comes to some dream teams of vendors.
