Ryan and I met through mutual friends during our senior year of college at Ohio University (Go Bobcats!).
Ryan suggested that we take a spontaneous weekend trip to Ouray and Silverton, Colorado to go explore some new towns and do some hiking (or what I thought was spontaneous…he had actually meticulously planned this for months). We had a great weekend exploring the towns, the shops, meeting locals. We even got to eat breakfast with the mayor of Silverton because we were the only visitors in town since it was during an off-season. The last day of the trip, we hiked the 8 mile round trip snowy trek up to Island Lake in the San Juan mountains. The lake at the top was this amazing bright, almost tropical looking blue color. When we got to the top of the mountain Ryan asked our friend to take a picture of us. I went to hand our friend my camera and when I walked back to Ryan, he was on one knee with a ring in hand. I immediately started bawling my eyes out and our friend, Freddie, perfectly captured the moment!
We love hiking, skiing/snowboarding, cooking dinner together, and traveling to new cities and countries. We also are currently trying to learn Spanish together for our honeymoon to Colombia!
Taking our engagement photos was one of those perfect moments during the wedding planning process where everything seemed surreal. Here we were all dressed up together, surrounded by this unbelievable scenery, and getting a chance to feel all that build up to our big day. It was so fun for just us to be together and feel the excitement and anticipation for our wedding day!
