Julie and Phillip’s Sedona Arizona Elopement
Julie and Phillip were originally planning a large wedding on 10/10/2020, but COVID basically ruined that plan. After going back and forth with a few different ideas, they eventually decided on a small Sedona elopement with me, a couple friends, and Phil’s parents. I am SO GLAD that we did this instead of canceling all together. It was a little crazy in Sedona on 10/10, but Julie and Phil were such troopers. Julie climbed around on rocks in her high heels and dress like it was no problem! She was down for anything and everything, and Phil just seemed so happy to be soaking it all in. Sometimes plan B (or C) can feel like it was meant to happen from the start.
Congratulations Julie and Phil!
Now for some Q&A from the lovely couple:
How did you and your significant other first meet?
We met at a mutual friend’s wedding back in 2015. Not long after that, Phillip asked Julie out to CrackerJax, a family fun park. While it was not a great showing for Phillip that day as Julie beat him in every activity from the batting cages to mini golf and even go-karts. One could argue that he won the ultimate prize that day, her heart. From that day on, their relationship grew as they learned to listen to each other’s needs and work on their weakness together. Together, they enjoyed all the ups and downs that life threw that them.
What is your proposal story?
Phillip knew that Julie wanted to be around close friends and family. With the help of Julie’s sister, Von, Phillip made reservations to a nice restaurant in Paradise Valley with Julie’s family and closest friends. What Julie thought was just a nice dinner turned into a surprise proposal.
Why did you decide to elope?
Due to COVID-19, our plans for a big celebration had to be changed. This wasn’t what Phil and I envisioned our dream wedding would be like. While we did not get to share this moment with our loved ones, our elopement was better than we could have imagined.
What was your favorite thing about your elopement in Sedona?
The intimacy and the breathtaking views.
What advice do you have for other couples that are thinking about eloping?
Have an open mind — it might not look like a wedding you get to see in movies but it is up to you to make it special. We are so glad we decided to do an elopement. It was great to have Megan assist us with scouting places, timing, and guiding us through our poses.
Congratulations Julie and Phillip!
