Sarah and Michael originally had a big Texas wedding planned for August, but Hurricane Harvey ruined their big day. After having to plan and cancel a big wedding, Sarah decided she wanted to elope somewhere surrounded by nature. And what better place than Rocky Mountain National Park?! The date they picked was their seven year anniversary which was such a special touch. Springtime in Colorado can be temperamental, and it was threatening to rain all day. But the skies cleared just long enough for their ceremony and portraits. They self-solemnized their ceremony, which means they didn’t have an officiant and simply read their vows to each other from their adorable vow books. I LOVE that you can get married without an officiant in Colorado. And then we ran around the park taking photos until the rain started up again.
I stole this quote from Sarah’s Instagram, “Sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall into place.” I totally got teary eyed when I read it. Congratulations Sarah and Michael! I’m so glad you got married in the rockies and invited me along!!! <3
